We are now open for Lunch & Dinner. Lunch 7 days a week 11am to 3pm. Dinner Sunday - Thursday 5pm to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 5pm to 9pm.

Built as River View House in 1710 and an Inn since 1800, this is the oldest full-service Inn in America. Four of our 310 year old rooms were indeed slept in by Founding Father Robert Morris, George Washington and many other dignitaries of the day and since. Red brick fireplaces around which heated discussion on the arguments for independence from Britain took place and negotiations for sugar cane, tobacco and French wine worked out. Wood paneling, red brick fireplaces and oak timbers are all as they were 310 years ago, hand built by ships carpenters from locally acquired materials and the red bricks from England, used as ships ballast. One cannot get any more historic than this. Later in life Robert Morris would reflect on his simple upbringing in a small two-bedroomed cottage on the river in Oxford.

In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here. More history is located here. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service.

Enjoy the town's two wonderful parks, its own pristine beach and the unique pleasures of the Oxford Bellevue Ferry transporting travellers across the Tred Avon River (mid- April through November), the oldest Ferry route in the country - history really does live here.

Watch the Eagles, Osprey, Herons, Crabs, Turtles and we even have Dolphins and Sea Horses in the Bay along with all the other Summer visitors. We can set you up for a memorable fishing trip or sunset cruise  .  .  .  your imagination is your only limit.

There is much to see and do in and around Talbot County.  Unique to our area is the new Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center at Church Creek. This year we celebrate the 200th birthday of Fredrick Douglas renowned Talbot County social reformer, abolitionist, orator and statesman follow his journey. Unfortunately we do not have an elevator and some of the stairs are quite steep, if you have mobility issues please contact us. Due to the age and nature of our building, we do not have disabled specific bedrooms.
