The Burns Supper is an institution of Scottish life: a night to
celebrate the life and works of the national Bard and all things
Scottish. Ours is an indulgent affair with fine old Malt Whisky,
fine Wine, our proven Scottish dishes, Poetry by our "foolhardy
chairman" and our Eastern Shore Piper.
We scowered the countryside from Benbecula to Melrose and found a
"foolhardy chairman . . . at The Lake of
Mentieth, Mr Gregor Wood.
Growing up at Ledard, near The Lake of Mentieth in a farming
background Gregor was also a former Royal Military Policeman and
served with the armed forces overseas for six years.
He is recognized as one of the finest presenters of Burns poetry and is an expert on Rob Roy and the weapons of the Highland Clans with experience as a re-enactor. He also has extensive experience as an actor and compere. Gregor has a love of Scottish music and plays the Great Highland and Scottish Small Bagpipes.
You can see more of Gregor and his Father at their family Farm Ledard.
We are most fortunate to again have piper Randy Welsh who is also
involved in The St Andrews Society of The Eastern
Shore.
